Born-Hunstanton, Norfolk

Between 18^th and 20^th February, 1915, 4^th Royal Fusiliers, 9 Brigade, 3^rd Division were in the Cavalry Barracks in Ypres. On 21^st February they moved into the front line in a new set of trenches to the south of Ypres where they stayed, in very wet conditions for 2 days and nights. The battalion diary reports that there were many dead bodies lying around and that they buried dozens of them and that German fire resulted in a number of casualties on the first night..
